Acro Yoga Workshop
Acro Yoga Workshop
December 13th, 2009
‘Flying’ upside down isn’t something that we would normally contemplate doing in the normal realm of our every day life. Yet Acro Yoga challenges you to do things outside your comfort zone. It is a beautiful combination of yoga asanas and acrobatics. All that is needed is trust (in yourself and your partner) and an open mind. Strong abdominals and hamstrings are also helpful!
Alli Brook led this workshop at the Yoga Centre of Steamboat. We began the session with group sun salutations and partner poses to create teamwork and trust. Together, we moved through the asanas and it felt wonderful to be connected by our breath and movement. Then it was time to find a partner and begin ‘flying’ each other - balancing one of us over the other as shown in the photo above. Once we found the core position, we then experimented with twisting, turning and stretching. We were all smiling and laughing by the end of the workshop. Acro Yoga creates a sense of lightness and playfulness while also challenging you physically and mentally. If you’re inspired then please come and join us as we practice.
Alli plans to hold these workshops once a month on a Sunday from 2-4pm. Look for more information here or on the Yoga Centre of Steamboat’s website.
